When a card lights up, you wave. If you both wave, it’s a match.

Quick questions
Can someone just see me or message me?
Until you choose to wave, you appear only as “Someone nearby” with the shared interest. No name, no photo. Only your wave carries your first name to that one person. Nobody can message you: a match happens only when both of you wave. You are discoverable only while the app is running, open or in the background. You are truly off with the “Für andere sichtbar” (visible to others) switch in your profile or when you quit the app.
Does the app have to be open?
It has to be running, open or in the background. at aura never starts on its own. Open the radar when you arrive: at the café, on the train, on campus. You’re off with the “Für andere sichtbar” (visible to others) switch in your profile or when you quit the app.
Doesn’t that constantly drain the battery?
at aura uses Bluetooth Low Energy, the same frugal technology that keeps a smartwatch connected for days. The app doesn’t use GPS at all.
What if my radar is empty at first?
Then you’re the first one here. Your radar reaches as far as Bluetooth, roughly 10 to 30 metres. Bring a second person along and pick a shared interest. From then on your radar lights up. That’s exactly what spreading the word is for: a class, an office, a club, a flatshare.
What does at aura cost?
Nothing. at aura shows no ads and sells neither a subscription nor in-app purchases. You don’t pay with your data either. The app doesn’t collect any.
Is at aura available for Android?
Not yet. So far at aura is iPhone only, iOS 17 or later.
Where do I get at aura?
On the App Store, free for iPhone running iOS 17 or later. The app is listed as “at aura, Leute kennenlernen” and its app language is German. Straight to the app on the App Store.
