at aura only shows people within Bluetooth range (same room, roughly 10 to 30 metres) whose app is running, open or in the background, and who share at least one interest with you. Check first: is Bluetooth on in Settings, not just Control Centre? Is the app running on both iPhones? You find each other most reliably while it is open. Then give discovery 15 to 30 seconds. And the more people around you have the app, the more your radar shows. Spread the word.

No. Everything runs directly between devices over Bluetooth. There is no server.

Wave to a person on the radar. If they wave back, it’s a match and you can chat, end-to-end encrypted and straight from device to device.

Messages go directly over Bluetooth to the other iPhone. If the other person is out of range or their app is closed, the chat shows the message as “pending” with a clock icon. As soon as you’re near each other again, at aura delivers it automatically.

In the chat, tap the three-dot menu in the top right and choose “Person melden” (report person) or “Person blockieren” (block person). Blocking takes effect immediately: the person no longer appears for you and their messages can’t reach you while the block is in place. The app doesn’t delete the chat history. It archives it locally as possible evidence for a report. In your profile, under “Community & Sicherheit”, you can read the archived history, report the person, delete the history for good, or lift the block. Once lifted, the chat returns, and messages from the time of the block can arrive retroactively. Reports reach us by email with a report code and without chat contents. We review them promptly.

Nobody can track you persistently through the app. Your device only broadcasts a random identifier that changes every 10 minutes. The app never broadcasts your name, your interests in plain text, or your location. With the “Für andere sichtbar” (visible to others) switch in your profile you can turn broadcasting off entirely at any time.

In your profile, tap “Alle Daten löschen” (delete all data). This irreversibly removes your profile, matches, chats and images from your device. Since there is no server, no copies exist anywhere afterwards.

Organisers such as festivals or campsites can put up signed QR codes. After you scan one and give your explicit consent, you get time-limited extra interests for that place, and through them you find people who are experiencing the same thing right now. Once they expire, they disappear completely from your device.
